Deciduous
Deciduous forests are often called temperate forests. In
a deciduous forest, most of the trees loose their leaves in the winter.
During the fall, when the weather gets cooler, the trees begin to shut
down. Their leaves turn beautiful shades of colors. Come winter time, the
leaves fall off of the trees. This region is between the tundra and
coniferous biomes.
Animals
Many of the animals that you can find in the coniferous
biome, you can also find in the deciduous biome. The vast number
of different species is spread out through the entire biome. Some
of these animals are: mice, rats, other rodents, deer, foxes, rabbits,
squirrels, bears, owls, turkeys, and different types of fish.
Plants
The plants life in the deciduous biome is very close
to that of the coniferous biome. The main difference is the type
of trees. There are not coniferous trees in the deciduous biome.
However the other plants are similar. Some of these are: mosses,
ferns, various mushrooms, bushes, vines, trees of many types, and shrubs.

Destruction and Interaction
Deciduous forests have some ways of helping humans.
Forests provide much if not all the lumber needed. To animals, forests
are a home. Without these forests, many animals would die.
Like the rainforests, humans are destroying the deciduous forests by chopping
down all the trees and destroying animals’ homes.
